AMD CPU Selection

Multi-tasking – your way to maximum performance in shortest time AMD Athlon II and Phenom II processors are the ones that can help you increase your performance by up to 80%. Multiple programs always available for work or play without any stalling or waiting. Loads of additional features and a long list of great motherboards are there for you to choose from.

The AMD AM3 CPUs that we use in the computers we make are very effective and fairly affordable. There are dual, triple and quad core CPUs ranging from the cheapest to top-notch ones – all offering impeccably adequate performance. The release of AM3 processors has marked the beginning of a whole new era for AMD – the era of maximized features support, lower heat generation and easy optimization. AMD Quad Core CPUs located at the top of the lineup are as effective as i3 and i5, if not more – but their price is considerably lower. What is even better is the fact that the motherboards that these CPUs are compatible with are available at budget prices too. AM3 boards all support DDR3 memory standard too. All 790x and most 770 boards by AMD support CrossFire. Even though SLI, in its turn, is not supported, the video experience at your AM3-based computer will still be blameless, all thanks to the many great video cards recently released by ATI. The latter company is owned by AMD, as you know, so the integration though Spider, Fusion and similar platforms is simply polished to perfection here. Awesome combination of high performance and low price!

AMD Athlon II X2/X3/X4 are AMD’s brand-new power-efficient CPUs optimized for AM3 platform and chosen by a great many users due to their affordable price. Talking about the performance, it should be said that they are close to blameless – depends on what you actually compare them to. They are as good as Intel Dual Core processors in terms of speed – and even better than them when you are talking about processing of multythreaded applications. Due to the fact that Athlon II X3 and X4 have several extra physical cores, they perform just great.

AMD Phenom II – available in dual, triple and quad core versions. The top of the lineup, Quad core Phenom II, brag impressing high stock clocks, such as X4 965 @ 3.4Ghz and are equally good for high-end gaming and data processing. Yes, they are slower than Intel i7 but they can easily compete with i3 and i5 LGA1156 in terms of speed – and when you see how cheap they are, you will surely understand why they are chosen by so many people around the world.

Overclocking CPUs in our computers is not that much of an easy task but we still manage it well – 10-20% overclocking is the average showing in the systems we make. As you know, the key to success here is effective cooling, so make sure you have something different from a stock cooler working on your CPU – this will surely give your computer a significant increase in MHz. Overclocking usually generates lots of heat, so a proper cooling system is a must in cases when you need to get rid of it quickly. Thus, instead of buying a more expensive CPU or upgrading your current one, you can simply select a better cooler and you will see an increase in speed, combined with lower temperature and less noise. E.g.: Use AMD Phenom II X4 955 together with Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 and you will see it working on 3500+MHz frequency (compared to standard 3200MHz).
